I was born and raised in Minnesota, a descendant of Swedish immigrant dairy farmers. My roots ran deep.  Then I married a military man, and my life went from stable and comfortable to uncertain and unpredictable.

My cup has overflowed with abundant blessings. We have three dear sons, and we’ve always had strong church families. But even after my husband left the Air Force, we kept moving. We lived in twenty-one different homes in the first sixteen years of our marriage, almost always in pleasant places. I’ve made wonderful friendships in these places and also online. I’ve taught quiltmaking for over 35 years, which has brought me great personal satisfaction. Things steadied after a while, and although we changed houses a few more times, we spent the next twenty years in one community in rural Wisconsin, where I homeschooled and graduated our sons. I started writing and wrote my first several books there. The boys married and started families.

And then, of course, my husband and I moved back to Minnesota, where we have been for the past five years.

The transient life taught me that only God is truly permanent. He is my anchor and my strong tower, solid and unchanging in a complicated world. He’s never failed me. He’s given me many blessings and opportunities. I try to hold them loosely and be open to His will for me. I don’t plan far in advance, because I never know what my life will look like from year to year.  I do know that God is with me and will never leave me.
